Basics

How the Peppol network works

One network for everyone

It makes no difference which program you use and which one your partner uses. The network connects everyone with everyone.

The postman delivers it

Your digital postman sends the invoice, and the recipient's postman delivers it to them.

One common format

An e-invoice is an XML file under the EN 16931 standard, in Slovakia in the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 format.

Peppol ID

Peppol ID: your address in the network

The Peppol ID takes the place of an e-mail address. It tells the network who to deliver the invoice to.

01

The prefix 0245

It tells the network that a Slovak DIČ follows.

02

Your company's DIČ

The ten-digit tax identification number you already have.

03

Together: 0245:2020123456

This is what the address your e-invoices arrive at looks like.

Thweite

What Thweite handles for you

  • The e-invoice in the right format
  • A check of the file before sending
  • Checking the recipient in the network
  • Confirmation of delivery
  • Reporting the data to the Financial Administration
  • Your listing in the Peppol Directory

You issue invoices as you do today. All that is left to you is choosing a postman and getting the DIČ right, yours and your partners'.

Questions and answers

What you ask about Peppol

Is Peppol only Slovak?

No. It is an international network used by businesses and public bodies in many countries. In Slovakia the law made it the network for e-invoices from 2027.

Where do I find my Peppol ID?

In Thweite under Settings → Overview → Digital postman, as soon as the registration is complete. It is made of 0245 and your company's DIČ.

Do I have to tell my suppliers my Peppol ID?

No. It is enough that they have your correct DIČ; the Peppol ID follows from it.

What is the Peppol Directory?

A public directory of the network's participants. In the Thweite settings you choose whether your company is listed in it.

Can I have more than one postman?

For receiving you only ever have one; e-invoices from all your suppliers reach you through it. For sending you can have several.
